Society changes its form, but not its essence. The questions of justice, love, betrayal, identity, and responsibility remain timeless. Each age answers them in its own way, and each individual must find their own balance between personal desire and social order. This book does not attempt to resolve such dilemmas. Instead, it attempts to portray them as they are - lived and felt by human beings in different contexts.
The thirty stories herein range across villages and cities, past and present, individuals and families. What unites them is the search for meaning amidst contradictions. If one thread binds all these narratives, it is this: human dignity is fragile, and yet, it is the most enduring strength we possess.
