In the small Jamaican village of Watersgate a thief stirs - no fewer than three pairs of Tessa Walcott's panties have gone missing. When Imelda Richardson suggests forming a Neighbourhood Watch to curb the crimewave, she couldn't possibly have foreseen the trouble it would lead to - from Pastor Braithwaite, from Evangelist Millie and from God Himself. As a hurricane hits Watersgate, the river swells and floods Imelda's house, and she leaves the village armed with one small suitcase and an angry heart - though not for the first time.
