Standing in the Shadows

1980. Nick Hartley returns home from a university lecture to find his house trawling with police who suspect him of murder. His ex-girlfriend, Alice Poole, has been found dead and her new boyfriend Mark Woodcroft is missing. The case is never solved - leaving Nick to pursue his own dangerous obsession for justice. 2019. An archaeologist in Yorkshire unearths a skeleton that isn't the Roman remains she was seeking, and Detective Superintendent Alan Banks and his team are called in to investigate.
