A propos de C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis
Plus connu sous le nom de C. S. Lewis, Clive Staples Lewis est né en novembre 1898 à Belfast en Irlande du Nord. Enseignant à la faculté anglaise d’Oxford, ce brillant universitaire fut un ami fidèle et proche de John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, auteur de la célèbre œuvre Seigneur des anneaux. Il est aussi reconnu comme écrivain, grâce à ses travaux qui portent aussi bien sur la littérature de l’époque médiévale, que ses critiques littéraires et ses écrits en faveur du christianisme. Il doit surtout son succès à son ouvrage « Le Monde de Narnia », célèbre œuvre pour enfants, vendue non seulement à des millions d’exemplaires partout dans le monde, mais aussi traduite en plus de 40 langues et adaptée au cinéma puis au théâtre. Dans ce livre en effet, C.S. Lewis nous transporte dans un univers féerique, magique et imaginaire dans lequel les animaux parlent, le bien et le mal se livrent une lutte acharnée. Publié en plusieurs tomes, Le Monde de Narnia parle des aventures extraordinaires d’enfants dans ce royaume fictif. Converti entre-temps au Christianisme, C. S. Lewis devient un apologiste. Il entreprend de défendre le Christianisme contre ses détracteurs et d’en faire la promotion. Dans son œuvre « Les fondements du christianisme », l’auteur montre l’existence de Dieu, la révélation divine au Christ. C’est une œuvre passionnante qu’il convient de lire.
