But when her father died suddenly when she was around fourteen years old, her life changed. #3 Taro and Sabine were in love, but they kept their relationship secret. Taro was bored in Zeeland, so he began writing letters to Sabine. On October 23, 1939, during a flying session, his plane crashed, and he was wounded.
He and his copilot escaped with light injuries. #4 Taro began to feel doubts about marrying Sabine. He was worried that he would never see her again, and he felt that their relationship was not as serious as it was supposed to be. He was also busy with war preparations, and his ten-day punishment was terminated after a few days.
