Artist Susan Kleinberg's piece, "Perceiving Courage" premiered at the 2001 Venice Biennale, then showed at PS1/MoMA in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires and has been shown around the world. It is conversations linked to photographs of dozens of people from all walks of life, including Cong. John Lewis, astronaut Sally Ride, author Gore Vidal, former President Bill Clinton, domestic worker Santa Isaacs, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and actor Spalding Gray. As she writes, "This is a book as much about the will to live as it is about courage. Such curious phenomena - phenomena that we all encounter at some point; profoundly, daily, suddenly, unexpectedly. Her interest is always the question, "What is courage?" Her goal being for each reader to locate themselves within these wide ranging, surprisingly unexpected thoughts.
