The second volume in the "One-Way-Marriages" collection brings us two fantasies in the female-led describing wives whose husbands thought they were in secure and patriarchal unions. The key word being: THOUGHT. Read on, as we go back to 1922, where, for one wife, a life of being second best is about to end. This after her husband returns from a business trip to the East for the company he owns with an illness that has left him with the strength of a child while leaving his faculties intact.
The hapless husband's situation not improved any when his wife takes on a manipulative Polish woman to help with him and she soon makes herself domestically indispensable as well as a figure of authority to the demoted husband as his regression deepens. And looks likely to become far worse! Three wives in the English Home-Counties have a similar problem and have had it for years. Their husbands. Overbearing husbands who save their best efforts for the golf-course and its nineteenth-hole while treating them as little more than hired-help.
Or at least used to until the appearance in the wives' lives of a strange and powerful African family change the whole marital dynamic in ways the men will not like and will not have any power to stop.
