Résumé

This is a story that I used to tell to my grandchildren until they got too old to believe it any more. It gave us some fun at the time and I would even play the Bogle songs on a guitar or using a computer to generate a "bogle organ" sound. The story is based on the idea that our highly washed and fragrant offspring could not possible be responsible for the naughty things they seem to do and that there must be some other, more sinister, agency involved.
It is suggested that the bogles, who are nocturnal, magical creatures exhibiting all the undesirable traits that we don't want our children to have, are really the ones carrying out the atrocities for which our own angels are blamed. Of course, the story is also an object lesson that underlines - for the benefit of our children - the undesirability of engaging in these activities. I hope that this story will appeal to your child or grandchild and that the Bogle Legend will pass into childhood folklore.
