Résumé
Sleep is not a luxury. 1 in 3 adults doesn't get the recommended amount of sleep. Roughly 40% of adult men and 24% of adult women are habitual snorers. A 10-15% higher mortality risk is associated with people who consistently sleep less than 6 hours per night compared to those who get 7-9 hours. The prevalence of OSA among patients with type 2 diabetes is around 71% according to studies. Sleep disturbances may also be associated with Alzheimer's disease and other serious issues such as stroke and cardiovascular disease as well as serious social and familial issues, day time accidents and productivity loss.
It is therefore imperative that we keep our sleep health in check. There are now emerging complex AI based hospital and home engineering diagnostic, monitoring and therapeutic technologies that together can help mitigate these risks. However, some of these technologies may also introduce some risks. It is becoming crucial for individuals to not only be aware of these technologies and how they work but also be able to manage their safety and efficacy for optimal sleep health.
This book is for those who want to learn how to improve their sleep using and managing these new technologies. Albert Guvenis is a scientific researcher and lecturer specializing in biomedical instrumentation and systems. He has authored numerous international publications and holds several patents. His work focuses on enhancing precision and accuracy in modern medical systems.
