With the death of Mustafa Kemal on the frontline at Gallipoli, Turkish nationalists lacked a strong leader to overthrow the Ottoman Sultan and repel those dividing up Anatolia. It is 1937 and the Treaty of Sèvres remains in force. In the Italian mandate of southern Anatolia, the Governor is abducted and poor man made good, Lieutenant Colonel Michele Tartaglia is assigned to this most challenging case.
